Greatest Hits

by: Jake Owen

Released 11 years after "Yee Haw" became Jake Owen's first country hit in 2006, Greatest Hits doesn't come close to chronicling every one of the singer's hits. The early hits "Startin' with Me" and "Something About a Woman" are absent, as is the non-LP 2015 single "Real Life," but they're not missed because this runs through all of his biggest hits. All his number one hits -- "Barefoot Blue Jean Night," "Alone with You," "Beachin'" -- are here, along with "The One That Got Away," "Anywhere with You," and "American Country Love Song." Two new songs -- "Subliminal Love" and "Long as You're in It," both on the softer side of the scale with the latter showing hints of the trendy soul influences in country in 2017 -- are added to entice fans, but the real draw are those hits, the ones that kept him on country radio in the first half of the 2010s. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
