Talk Back Trembling Lips/The Tillotson Touch

by: Johnny Tillotson

Two of Johnny Tillotson's MGM albums from 1963-1964 are collected on this import CD. The title track of "Talk Back Trembling Lips" was a hit, and the remaining 11 tracks on that album include versions of others' hits ("Danke Shoen," "Blue Velvet," "Blowin' in the Wind") and a few songs songs co-written by Tillotson. The Tillotson Touch offers 12 more tracks, including the usual wild assortment of cover versions ("I've Got You Under My Skin," "Cold, Cold Heart," "This Ole House"). The highlight of this set is "Jailer Bring Me Water," a folk song revived by Bobby Darin. Many of these tracks overlap with Ace's collection of Tillotson's greatest MGM recordings, You're the Reason, and all but the most serious fans should stick with that disc. ~ Greg Adams
