Hard Time Blues

by: Josh White

Taken from old scratchy 78s -- and poorly transferred at that -- this is classic Josh White running through a fairly standard set of folk club favorites. The material ranges from a hyperkinetic "John Henry" to truncated "Cotton Eyed Joe," "One Meat Ball," "Motherless Children," "Miss Otis Regrets" to working with a gospel group on "Told My Captain." Great performances, but lousy sound and no recording information or liner notes of any kind make this a real beat for the money at any price. ~ Cub Koda
