Better Off with the Blues

by: Junior Wells

Remarkably mundane effort that leaves one with the impression that Wells didn't care a whole lot about making this disc. Even the presence of Buddy Guy, Lucky Peterson, and bassist Johnny B. Gayden can't save the overly slick set, where Wells waxes one more "Messin' with the Kid," and a dire reading of the country-soul standby "Today I Started Loving You Again," and a way-too-long title track. ~ Bill Dahl
