For Real Tho'

by: LeVert

This album is not quite as commendable as their previous ones...Gerald Levert's vocal presence is minimal, and moreover, the selections that bear his lead are average at best. Nonetheless, the album did have a few bright spots. It reared a Billboard R&B Top Ten single in "ABC-123" and a Top 20 single in "Good Ol' Days." The latter was the first release, harboring a rumbling bassline in which the group shares lead vocal duties. It managed to peak at #12 after ten weeks. The former has a sweet, sensual charm. With Gerald's commanding vocals out front through the verses, Sean imparts a noticeably orchestrated pre-hook lyric. The two further their vocal exchange in the vamp. The third single was "Do the Thangs." It too has total group participation vocally... ~ Craig Lytle
