Christmas Around the World with Perry Como

by: Perry Como

Perry Como's voice was like baritone honey, and his tone and phrasing when he sang always carried an intimate clarity, always soothing, reassuring, calm, and joyous somehow, no matter the song. Como was simply born to sing Christmas songs. He even became known as "Mr. Christmas." During the 1960s Como did an annual television holiday special, each year presented from a different location on the globe, broadcasting from Mexico, Austria, Paris, New York, London, Hawaii, and countless other places, usually with famous guest stars on hand. This set collects select audio song performances from 16 of those annual shows, and features guest slots from John Wayne, Debby Boone, the Vienna Boys' Choir, Angie Dickinson, Richard Chamberlain, Sid Caesar, Toni Tennille, Vikki Carr, Dorothy Hamill, and others. ~ Steve Leggett
