For You

by: Perry Como

You have to buy this budget-priced {$Perry Como} album from the British reissue label {@Prism Leisure} and read {$Tony Watts}' typically brief liner notes to come upon the admission "Many of the recordings included on this album are transcriptions from {$Perry}'s radio and television appearances in the Fifties." If you can get over the disappointment of discovering that you have not purchased original studio recordings, the performances, in only okay fidelity, are on a par with {$Como}'s records, and the addition of duet partners {$Dinah Shore} and {$Brenda Lee} adds to the enjoyment. But this is still a random collection of unidentified radio air checks and TV {\soundtracks}, not a thorough compilation of {$Como}'s work. ~ William Ruhlmann, Rovi
