Absolutely the Best of the American Songbook

This three-disc, 60-track budget box collects songs by Cole Porter ("I've Got You Under My Skin" in a classic version by Frank Sinatra), Jerome Kern ("Smoke Gets in Your Eyes" by the Platters), Hoagy Carmichael ("Georgia on My Mind" by Ray Charles), Harold Arlen ("Stormy Weather" by Lena Horne) and others from the golden era of American songwriting, the so-called Great American Songbook, and each is represented in a definitive version by a great singer. The bottom line is that everything here is a classic, either as a song or a recording, and most often both. ~ Steve Leggett
