Just in Time for Christmas

When Phil Spector assembled his stable of artists in 1963 to create the masterpiece, A Christmas Gift for You from Phil Spector, he probably did not suspect that other labels would try to imitate his success: this collection shows how bringing together bands from a label's stable can fail miserably. Except for contributions from Squeeze (the quirky "Christmas Day") and the dB's (the power pop "Home for the Holidays"), this is fairly unnecessary fare. ~ Dennis MacDonald
