Living in Oblivion: The 80's Greatest Hits, Vol. 4

Living in Oblivion, Vol. 4 continues the downward spiral of the series. There's little rhyme or reason to the song selection on the disc, as it jumps from new wave to goth-rock to mainstream rock to alternative. That scattershot approach prevents the album from being a cohesive listen, but the disc does contain several classics, including "Dance Hall Days," "One Thing Leads to Another, " "True, " "Come on Eileen, " "Digging Your Scene, " "Under the Milky Way, " "Tenderness" and "Mexican Radio." They may be presented in a more logical fashion on other compilations, but they make Living in Oblivion, Vol. 4 attractive to undiscriminating collectors. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
