Now That's What I Call Classic Rock [2015]

The NOW Music series continues to plumb the archives of popular music, this time with the expansive three-disc set Now That's What I Call Classic Rock. There's not a lot or rhyme or reason to this compilation, which spans the Kinks' mid-'60s British Invasion classic "You Really Got Me" all to way to Wheatus' mid-'90s slacker rock anthem "Teenage Dirtbag." In between are some truly legendary cuts, like Mott the Hoople's "All the Young Dudes," Queen's "We Will Rock You," and Black Sabbath's "Paranoid," as well as some questionable choices like Ram Jam's "Black Betty" and Alien Ant Farm's cover of Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal." As with any NOW collection, pretty much every song here had its day in the sun and there's a good chance you'll be able to sing along with nearly every one of them whether you want to or not. ~ Timothy Monger
