Alci Acosta

The Colombian bolero singer and pianist Alci Acosta is popular throughout Latin America and is best known for his million-selling hit single 'Tracionera'. He was born in Soledad, Atlántico in 1938 and is the father of the popular folk singer Checo Acosta. Aciosta plays a broad range of traditional South American musical styles including pasillos, corridos, valses, and rancheras and singles such as 'La Cárcel De Sing Sing', 'La Copa Rota', 'Hola Soledad', 'Tango Negro', 'Señora Bonita', 'El Preso Número 9', and 'El Contragolpe' have established him as one of Colombia's most successful performers of Latin music. Throughout his career Acosta has often partnered other well-known Latin artists with his most notable collaboration being with the Ecuadorian guitarist Julio Jaramillo.
