Alpha Blondy

Known as Alpha Blondy, Seydou Koné is an entertainer from West Africa who sings mostly in his native Dioula language with some French and English. He has gained international fame as a recording artist performing reggae. He played in a band at high school, studied in America for a while, and returned to the Ivory Coast where he made his first album, 'Jah Glory', in 1982. His fame spread to Europe and he spent time in Paris as his career developed with his 1990 release 'The Best of Alpha Blondy' achieveing number 12 on Billboard's World Albums Chart. His 1995 release 'Dieu' hit number 15 on Billboard's Reggae Albums Chart, 'Yitzhak Rabin' (1998) reached number nine and 'Positive Energy' (2016) with The Solar System peaked at number 13. He has acted as a United Nations Ambassador and established a charitable foundation. His 2018 schedule included appearances at venues across France, the Netherlands and Switzerland.
