Andrew E.

The Filipino rapper, actor, and comedian known as Andrew E. was born Andrew Ford Valentino Espiritu on July 30, 1967, in Naga City. He started off DJing in clubs and made his official music debut in 1990 with the hit single “Humanap Ka ng Panget.” As his career took off, he began starring in comedy films based on some of his songs, such as “Mahirap Maging Pogi” (1992), “Manchichiritchit” (1993), and “Ang Boyfriend Kong Gamol” (1994). In 1997, he founded the indie rap label Dongalo Wreckords, whose main aim was to discover new talents in the underground Pinoy hip-hop scene. After spending some time in Japan in the late 90s, Andrew E. returned to the Philippines and released the albums Wholesome (1999), Much More Wholesome (2000), and a greatest hits collection in 2002. Preceded by the title track and the single “Aussie, Aussie (O, Sige!),” the album Clean saw the light in 2007. In 2010, his album Clubzilla won Rap Album of the Year at the PMPC Star Awards.
