Belanova

Latin Grammy award-winning electro-pop outfit Belanova formed in Jalisco, Guadalajara in 2000. Led by singer Denisse Guerrero, keyboardist Edgar Huerta, and bass player Ricardo "Richie" Arreola, the group signed to Virus Records, a subsidiary of Universal Music, and made its debut in 2003 with the album Cocktail. Produced by Alex Midi Ortega, the album reached the Top 5 of the Mexican charts after its lead single "Tus Ojos" was included in a Mitsubishi ad. The band spent the following years promoting the album on a national tour and then flew to Argentina to start working on their second album with renowned producer Cachorro López. Far more accessible and pop-leaning than its predecessor, 2005's Dulce Beat surpassed all expectations by soaring to the top of the Mexican charts and landing all three of its singles—"Me Pregunto," "Por Ti," and "Rosa Pastel"—on the domestic Top 5. The album earned the band a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album by a Group or Duo in 2006, and an extended edition titled Dulce Beat 2.0 came out later that year. Preceded by the chart-topping single "Baila Mi Corazón," third album Fantasía Pop (2007) picked up where Dulce Beat left off, boasting a sound that flirted with mainstream pop music. It was the second Belanova album to reach Number 1 in Mexico and it won Best Pop Album By A Duo Or Group With Vocal at the 2008 Latin Grammy Awards. In subsequent years, Guerrero and company expanded their sonic palette on the experimental pop extravaganza of Sueño Electro I (2010) and Sueño Electro II (2011) and recorded a symphonic live album titled Canciones Para La Luna - Sinfónico En Vivo (2013). After taking an extended recording hiatus, Belanova returned in 2018 with Viaje al Centro del Corazón, their first Number 1 album since 2007's Fantasía Pop.
