Bishop Briggs

Born Sarah Grace McLaughlin in London, England on July 18, 1992, Bishop Briggs took her professional name from a place in Scotland from where her family hails. She began her musical journey at the age of four when she was taken by her parents to Tokyo, Japan where she sang karaoke and started to write songs as a child and learned to play the piano. The family moved to Hong Kong when she was 10 where she attended the Hong Kong International School. Moving to Los Angeles, California, she studied at the Musician's Institute and began to perform at local venues. Her first single, “Wild Horses,” was released in 2015, and was critically successful but was not a commercial success. However, her second single, “River,” was a massive success in 2016, climbing to number 3 on Billboard's Alternative Songs Chart and number 10 on the Hot Rock Songs Chart. She released her self-titled EP that same year, which was followed by an appearance on Cold War Kids’ 2017 hit singled “So Tied Up.” Due to her rising success, her self-titled EP was repackaged and reissued in 2017. In 2018, she released her debut full length album Church of Scars, which reached number 5 on both the Alternative Albums and Hot Rock Albums charts in Billboard. The album featured the single “Wild Horses” (also on the 2016 EP), which reached number 17 on Billboard’s Alternative Singles chart and number 21 on the Hot Rock Singles chart. The single “White Flag” was also a success, reaching number 16. In 2019, Bishop Briggs released her sophomore album, Champion, which featured the singles “Tattooed on My Heart,” “Jekyll & Hide,” and the title track. After the death of her older sister and manager Kate McLaughlin, Bishop Briggs released the emotional singles “High Water” and “Art of Survival” while continuing to play live and work on new material. In May 2023, she competed on Season Nine of The Masked Singer and won, becoming the first British / International singer to win the competition and the youngest winner in the show’s history. In June 2023, she released the EP When Everything Went Dark, which included the single “Baggage.”
