Brigitte Fontaine

Brigitte Fontaine is a French avant-garde vocalist and songwriter whose work covers and blends forms such as pop, rock, electronic, folk and jazz. An activist, actress, author, playwright and poet, she has been an influential figure in protest movements in France since the early 1960s. Her songs have been covered by artists including Christine Sèvres, François Hardy and Johnny Halliday and she has collaborated with French pop singer Jacques Higelin. Her albums include '13 chansons décadentes et fantastmagoriques' (1966), 'Je ne connais pas cet homme' (1973), 'Vous et Nous' (1977), 'French corazon' (1988), 'Genre humain' (1995), 'Les Palaces' (2001), 'Libido' (2006), 'Prohibition' (2009) and 'J'ai l'honneur d'être' (2013). She released an album titled 'Terre Neuve' in January 2020. Her 2020 schedule was to include appearances at venues in Lille, Marseille, Avignon and Paris and in Yverdon-Les-Bains in Switzerland.
