Burns is a Los Angeles-based producer and DJ who straddles the indie-dance and EDM worlds, creating high-energy original tracks as well as remixes and productions for everyone from Passion Pit and Kasabian to Britney Spears and Rihanna. Born Matthew James Burns in Stafford, England in 1985, he hit the music scene during the late 2000s, with singles as well as remixes for Calvin Harris, Gossip, Yuksek, and others. His passionate nu-disco single "Y.S.L.M. (You Stopped Loving Me)," a collaboration with Fred Falke, was released in 2010 and became a club hit. Burns' double-mix CD This Is Burns, Vol. 1 was issued by Music Response that year, and in 2011, he produced another club smash, "Lies." (Several remixes of the track were released, with Otto Knows' mix making the biggest impact.) More singles appeared, in addition to remixes for artists including Charli XCX and Iggy Azalea, as well as production for hits by Ellie Goulding ("Midas Touch") and Pitbull ("All the Things"). Burns moved to Los Angeles in 2014, and the summery, multi-cultural atmosphere of the city made an impact on his work. Following singles for Doorn Records and Spinnin' Records, as well as a production credit on Britney Spears' hit "Make Me...," Burns signed to RCA Records and released the single "Far Gone" (featuring Johnny Yukon) in 2017. ~ Paul Simpson
