Crash Test Dummies

The smooth, deep, baritone purr of Brad Roberts and his band's gentle folksy rock, made Crash Test Dummies one of Canada's most successful musical exports of the early Nineties. Starting out as bar band Bad Brad Roberts and the St. James Rhythm Pigs, debut album The Ghosts That Haunt Me (1991) became a huge hit in their home land, selling 400,000 copies and producing the Number 4 single Superman's Song. The rest of the world caught on with the release of second album God Shuffled His Feet (1993), which topped the charts in the UK and broke into the US Top 10. Their defining single will be the worldwide smash Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm, which hummed its way to non-stop airplay and reached Number 2 in the UK. Though they continued to sell well in Canada, the band's popularity abroad quickly dwindled and the members drifted on to various solo and side projects. With Brad and Ellen the only two remaining members of the band, the album Oh La La was released only as a digital download in 2010.
