Des'ree

Born in Barbados but mostly raised in London, Des'Ree was inspired to sing as a result of the music she heard on a trip back to the West Indies with her parents in her early teens. She released her first single Feel So High in 1992 but it was You Gotta Be in 1994 which made her a star, breaking into the Top 10 in both Britain and the US. Its success led to her second album I Ain't Movin' selling over 1.6 million copies with high profile tours and further hits. One of her songs Kissing You was featured in the movie Romeo & Juliet and Crazy Maze was used in the movie Nothing To Lose. In 1998 she achieved another major international success with the single Life..., despite being ridiculed in some circles for simplistic lyrics, and voted the worst lyric of all time in one poll. She also duetted with Babyface, Terence Trent D'Arby and Steve Winwood but adopted a low profile following her 2003 album Dream Soldier.
