Die Toten Hosen

German punk band Die Toten Hosen were formed in Düsseldorf in 1982 and have gone on to become one of Germany's most enduring and popular bands from the post punk era. They initially started out as a novelty act and many of their early tracks had elements of comedy or parody. Over time they have matured into a more serious musical style and their newer material often contains political or social comment. They are viewed as pioneers of Volxmusic, a uniquely Tuetonic genre which draws upon traditional German folk music and combines with jazz, hip-hop and rock influences. The band have now released 17 studio albums and continue to be a popular concert attraction in Germany. Their outrageous style coupled with genuine concern for social issues and a history of charitable support for various social causes has endeared them to German audiences.
