Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike

Thanks to their unfailing ability to turn crowds into rampaging ravers, Belgian brothers Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike steadily grew to become European dance music royalty, before being crowned as the top DJs in the world by DJ Mag in 2015. As young teenagers Dimitri and Michael Thivaios both got their start playing 1990s hardcore and rave tracks at parties in their town of Willebroek in the province of Antwerp and further learned their trade as hosts on local radio. Dimitri travelled across Europe working the hotel and hospitality circuit while landing sets at some of the big superclubs in Ibiza, Xante and the Canary Islands, but by the mid-2000s the brothers were reunited in Belgium, built their own studio and set about crafting their own brand of warped, woozy beats and jumping, anthemic, freak-out crescendos. They gained the support of Swedish House Mafia's Axwell thanks to their re-mix of 'Work That Body' by Dave Lambert and Housetrap and they later released compilation album 'Smash the House!' before being personally chosen by Lady Gaga to re-mix her track 'Marry the Night' in 2011. Singles 'Madness' featuring rapper Lil Jon and 'Hey Baby' with Diplo were released through Steve Aoki's Dim Sak label and the pair became regular hosts and headliners at their hometown dance festival Tomorrowland as well as scoring seven number one hits on the online electronic music store Beatport. They made the UK top 30 for the first time in 2014 with 'Tremor' featuring Martin Garrix and the album 'Bringing the World the Madness' was another big favourite with dance crowds alongside crossover hit 'Higher Place' with R&B crooner Ne-Yo. The duo also developed into an arena-filling live act with Mike hyping crowds into massive bouncy frenzies and Dimitri providing the thumping EDM pyrotechnics, breaking the attendance record for a DJ show when they played in front of a crowd of 45,000 people in Dusseldorf. Their track 'Melody' was also the official anthem of the Belgian national football team in 2016 and the following year they worked with composer Hans Zimmer on the track 'He's a Pirate', which featured on the 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales' movie soundtrack.
