Gautier Capuçon

Gautier Capuçon is a celebrated French cellist who appears as a soloist on many international tours with the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris, Wiener Symphoniker, Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, National Center for Performing Arts and as part of the Verbier Festival with Gabor Takacz in Asia. He has a long list of recordings and his 2016-17 season included performances with the London Symphony Orchestra, Münchner Philharmoniker, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic and San Francisco Symphony. He is founder and leader of the Classe d'Excellence de Violoncelle at the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris. Born in France, he learned to play the cello as a child and studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur in Paris and the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. He performed with major orchestras in the top concert halls and at senior festivals and accompanied many artists in chamber music performances and albums. He made his recording debut in 2002 with 'Ravel: Sonatas & Trio' with pianist Frank Braley and his violinist brother Renaud, and he has performed and recorded works by Franck, Rachmaninov, Haydn, Schubert, Prokofiev, Dvorák, Tchaikovsky, Fauré, Shostakovich and Beethoven.
