Gazapizm

Born July 20, 1988, in Elaziğ, Turkey, Anil Acar moved to Izmir Göztepe in 1997 and first turned to hip-hop in 2003. He began writing street rap tunes inspired by his daily observations and in 2012 set up a recording studio and production collective, Argo Izmir. Acar made his debut as Gazapizm with the 2009 album Majör Depresyon, and garnered praise for his 2014 sophomore effort, Yeraltı Edebiyatı. He has since released two more albums, 2016's Bir Gün Her Şey and 2020's HİZA, and his music has benefited from the popularisation of Turkish rap, with his 2017 song "Heyecanı Yok" appearing on the soundtrack for TV series Çukur. In 2018, the track picked up the Song of the Year prize at the Golden Butterfly Awards. Gazapizm was awarded the title of Musician of the Year at the 2018 GQ Turkey Men of the Year Awards and 2020 saw the release of HİZA.
