Heintje

Born Hendrik Nikolaas Theodoor Simons on August 12, 1955 in Kerkrade in Limburg, Netherlands, the schlager singer and actor is better known by his stage names Heintje, Heintje Simons, and Hein Simons. He rose to prominence as a child singer with the hit song "Mama" (1967). Released when he wasn’t even in his teens yet, "Mama" remained in the charts for over a year and was also a best-seller in 1968. His second album, Heintje (1968), was Number 1 in Germany, sold over two million copies, and earned him a platinum record. His next album, Ich Sing Ein Lied für Dich (1969), was also a Number 1 charting album. He continued to release albums regularly until 2019, the year of the release of Lebenslieder, which reached Number 8 in Germany. Heintje had a parallel career as an actor, singing and acting in many films between 1967 and 1971. Heintje has become one of the finest representatives of the schlager genre thanks to several Number 1 hits including "Du Sollst Nicht Weinen" and "Heidschi Bumbeidschi" in 1968 and “Ich Sing 'Ein Lied für Dich” in 1969.
