Honey Singh

Honey Singh is the stage name of Indian rapper, producer, and actor Hirdesh Singh, born on March 13, 1983, in Hoshiarpur, Punjab. He took his first steps in music in 2003 as a session musician, later becoming associated with the local bhangra and hip-hop scene as well as the burgeoning Bollywood film industry. In 2011, he released the full-length International Villager, an album sung mostly in Punjabi that spawned the chart-topping hit “Gabru” with singer J-Star. That same year, he scored another Number 1 with the track “Lak 28 Kudi Da” with Diljit Dosanjh. 2012 found Honey Singh at the top of his game, writing original material for the soundtrack of films such as Cocktail and Mastan (which also included the highest fees paid for a Bollywood song in recent history) and releasing the full-length Born This Way. In the years that followed, Honey Singh continued his winning streak with the hit singles “Dheere Dheere” (2015), “Makhna” (2018), “Loca” (2020), and “Kanta Laga” (2021) with Tony and Neha Kakkar, which entered the Indian Top 100 at Number 31.
