Hozier

Born on March 17, 1990, Irish singer-songwriter Andrew Hozier-Byrne is something of an enigma in the modern music industry. After a phenomenally successful, Grammy Award-nominated, platinum-selling debut album in 2015, the talented musician from Bray in County Wicklow waited almost three years before announcing the follow-up to the album Hozier. Hozier's career began to take off in 2014 when his debut EP Take Me to Church made the transition from free download to formal release and topped the charts in 12 countries becoming a rock radio hit in the US. The success of the title track provided an early indication of the potential appeal of Hozier and the success of the album was something which informed observers in the music industry had been predicting for some time. His 2016 release "Better Love" was incorporated into the soundtrack of Legend of Tarzan providing further valuable global exposure for the singer. In 2018, he released EP Nina Cried Power with the announcement that he was in the process of recording his second album. Wasteland, Baby! eventually came out in 2019 and, just like its predecessor, hit number 1 in Ireland, also reaching the top of the Billboard 200. Following a lengthy international tour in support of the album, Hozier spent the next couple of years contributing to charity projects and releasing non-album singles such as "The Parting Glass" (2020) or "Swan Upon Leda" (2022). In 2023, he returned with his third full-length album Unreal Unearth, another commercial blockbuster that achieved pole position in Ireland and became his first chart-topper on the UK Albums Chart. "Too Sweet," his first Top 10 hit since "Take Me To Church," followed in 2024. Released on the EP Unheard, the song reached Number 1 on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart in America, as well as number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 4 on the UK Singles Chart.
