I Dont Know How But They Found Me

Named after a line in the 1985 film Back to the Future, indie rock duo I Dont Know How But They Found Me (sometimes shortened to IDKHow or IDK) were inspired by '80s new wave and TV talent shows of the '80s and '90s. Their vibrant, synth-centric dance-rock charted at streaming sites beginning with their debut single, "Modern Day Cain," in 2017. Formed in Salt Lake City, Utah in 2016, IDKHow comprise bassist/songwriter Dallon Weekes, formerly of the Brobecks (2002-2013) and Panic! At the Disco (2009-2017), and drummer Ryan Seaman, formerly of post-hardcore bands Falling in Reverse and I Am Ghost. A dynamic singer in his own right, Weekes had been writing and recording solo material for several years while on the road with Brendon Urie's Panic! At the Disco. He and Seaman had known each other for about a decade before finally collaborating on IDKHow. They played a few secret shows in the Los Angeles area beginning in late 2016 before word of the project eventually spread. Presenting themselves as a forgotten '80s band rediscovered, the duo released its first single, "Modern Day Cain," in August 2017, following it a month later with "Choke." In August of 2018, the band signed with Fearless Records and made its label debut with "Do It All the Time." ~ Marcy Donelson
