JAMESDAVIS

Alternative R&B-leaning group JAMESDAVIS consist of fraternal twins Rey and Jess Reynolds and their brother Auston Reynolds. They debuted their mellow but intricate sound, including alternating leads and three-part harmony vocals, on a self-titled EP in 2015. Formed in Los Angeles in 2012, the trio's performing name is familial, as well: James is the middle name of each of the men in the Reynolds family, while Davis is the maternal last name of the siblings' mother. Prior to forming, Jess had a recording deal guided by songwriter and producer Harold Lilly, whose name is in the liner notes of many J Records releases of the 2000s (among others), while Rey was mentored by ace soul singer/songwriter Leon Ware. The Reynolds siblings started working together in an organic fashion, signed to the Motown label, and released their eponymous debut EP in May 2015. Remaining with Motown, they returned with two EPs in 2018: 217 and Lamplighter, Vol. 1. Their fourth EP, MASTERPEACE, followed in mid-2019. ~ Andy Kellman
