Jennie

Jennie Kim is a South Korean rapper, singer and model who was born in Seoul on January 16, 1996. She was educated in New Zealand and upon her return to South Korea joined the music industry giant YG Entertainment as a trainee and began preparing herself for a career in music. In 2016, she made her public debut as a member of Blackpink, an all-girl K-pop group. The group's first single "Whistle" was lifted off the EP Square One and went to number 1 on the Korean charts. Its follow-up single, "Boombayah" reached the top of the World Digital Charts and was to become the first of four Billboard chart-toppers for the band. "Solo," Jennie's debut single as a solo artist was announced during Blackpink's 2018 In Your Area tour ahead of its official release. When the single and the accompanying video went public it became the most-viewed video released by a female K-pop artist, confirming her popularity amongst fans. This success was followed by an album of the same name, which peaked at number 2 on South Korea's Circle Chart. In 2023, she joined forces with The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp on the track "One of the Girls" from the soundtrack of the HBO series The Idol. Later that year, Jennie resumed her solo efforts with the single "You & Me," topping the charts in South Korea, Singapore, and Vietnam, and reaching the Top 10 in Japan.
