Jimilian

Jimilian is an Albanian artist turning out radio-friendly hip-hop-infused pop in Denmark. Born Jimilian Ismaili in 1994, he grew up under the influence of a father well-known in his native Albania for his career as a folk musician. The family left Albania while Jimilian was still young, temporarily residing in Belgium before applying for political asylum in Denmark. They lived in a receiving centre for asylum seekers for a while but in 2000 were able to legally settle in Denmark. In 2006 Jimilian took part in the Borne MGP, a children's music contest, under the name Lil 'G, and from there went on to release music online and attract a following with tracks like 'Elsker', 'Virus', 'Vibration', 'Finde dit smil igen' and 'Tættere på'. He got a boost when he appeared on 'Ghetto' and its follow-up, 'Ghetto 2', by Mido. Jimilian got his first taste of chart success with 'Hjerteslag' in 2012, peaking at number 20. From there he began charting with increasing frequency, cracking the top ten in 2015 when 'Slem igen' peaked at number eight.
