Joey Purp

Born Joseph Davis on 3 August 1993 in Chicago, Illinois, the rapper known as Joey Purp joins the long line of hip-hop stars hailing from the Windy City and stamped his membership with the Savemoney crew; also comprising Chance the Rapper, Vic Mensa, and other local heroes. He dropped his first mixtape, The Purple Tape, in 2012 but his ascent to stardom began four years later with iiiDrops. Packed full of top-shelf collaborations, including Mick Jenkins, Chance the Rapper, and Vic Mensa, the tape drew critical acclaim and paved the way for his debut album Quarterthing in 2018, mapping out Joey Purp's signature genre-blending style and inner-city raps. That same year, he made a guest stop on "Reboot" and "Beware" by Kami & Smoko Ono and in 2022, cemented his creative relationship with Kami on the You and the Money LP. His own Heavy Heart, Vol. 1 emerged in 2023 while also in 2023, his track "Elastic" was used in Google's Chromebook advertisements.
