Kenny Kwan

Cantopop star Kenny Kwan, born December 30, 1980 in the Philippines, was raised in Hong Kong. His first rush of fame came in the early 2000s when he became a member of the pop duo Boy’z with Steven Cheung. The band’s popularity, and Kwan’s good looks, led to an acting career starting in 2003’s The Death Curse. Boy’z split in 2005 and Kwan proceeded to release 3 solo albums between July of that year and July of 2016. 2005’s Oncoming, 2005’s Musick, and 2006’s Mie Wo Sagashite established his own identity on the pop charts. That concentration on his music cut into his acting gigs, but he resumed that part of his career with 2007’s Trivial Matters. That same year, he also reunited for a new song with Cheung that was released under the moniker, Sun Boy’z. They officially reconstituted their partnership in 2010. Kwan continued to balance music and acting with award-winning releases from Sun Boy’z like “Ready to Go”, and work in such projects as Legend of Chasing Fish, The Fox Lover, and The Fallen, which played at the 2019 Hong Kong Film Festival. That same year, Kwan performed solo at the famous Hong Kong Coliseum after a Boy’z concert was cancelled due to a scandal involving Cheung.
