Kenny Wayne Shepherd

Blues guitarist Kenny Wayne Shepherd was born in Louisiana where he taught himself music. He signed his first recording contract with Giant Records whilst still in his mid-teens and went on to have seven top ten singles and hold the record for the longest running album on the Billboard Blues Charts with his 1997 release 'Trouble Is...', one of three platinum albums he recorded and the follow-up to his debut album 'Ledbetter Heights' (1995). One of these albums was the critically acclaimed CD/DVD project '10 Days Out: Blues from the Backroads' (2007). The album and accompanying DVD documents Shepherd as he tours the Deep South, interviewing and playing with some of the last surviving authentic blues players. The album contains a collection of performances from artists such as Clarence Brown, B.B. King, Cootie Stark and Honeyboy Edwards. In 2013, Shepherd formed The Rides, a trio with Stephen Stills and Electric Flag's Barry Goldberg. The band toured extensively in the US and released 'Can't Get Enough'. They got together again in 2015 to record their second offering 'Pierced Arrow'. The album charted at number one in the Billboard Top Blues Albums Chart. In 2017, Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band released the album 'Lay It On Down', which again topped the Blues Albums Chart, before releasing the follow-up 'The Traveler' in May 2019.
