Kita Alexander

Nikkita Kalea "Kita" Alexander, born on February 25, 1996, is an Australian pop singer-songwriter from Brisbane, Queensland. Growing up in Port Macquarie, New South Wales, Alexander began performing at the age of 15, eventually leaving high school to focus on her music career. Her first extended play, titled Lion Hat, was released in March 2013, following this two years later with debut single "My Own Way," which received airplay on Triple J, reaching number 95 on the ARIA Singles Chart. In November 2015, her second EP Like You Want To was met with critical acclaim, seeing the title track reach number 82 on the ARIA Singles Chart, and number 107 in Triple J's Hottest 200 of 2015. In April 2017, Alexander released her third EP, Hotel with title track peaking in the top 60 on the ARIA Singles Chart in November after charting in the ARIA Hitseekers Singles Chart for over 20 weeks. It was certified platinum by the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) in February 2018. In May 2019, Alexander released "Between You & I," which samples Tears for Fears' 1985 song "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" coming in at 179 in Triple J's Hottest 200 of 2019 and certified Gold soon after. Over the next three years, Alexander released a slew of singles including "Against the Water," (2020) "Run," (2022) "Ocean Blue" (2022) as well as "Memories of You," (2022) the fourth single from her fourth EP, The One. In March 2023, Alexander announced details of her debut headline tour in Australia with new single "Queen." She followed this with "7 Minutes in Heaven," "Date Night" (featuring Morgan Evans), which charted at number 32, and "Atmosphere" which climbed to number 18 in August that year, earning her a Rolling Stone Australia award nomination for Best Single. In March 2024, Alexander unveiled her debut album Young in Love, preceded by singles "Best You Ever Had" and "All Night" (featuring LAUREL).
