Leah Dou

Leah Dou is a Chinese musician and award-winning actress. She was born as "Dou Jingtong" to an artistic family on January 3, 1997, in Beijing's Dongcheng District. Her father, Dou Wei, was an iconic artist who performed with the hard-rock band Black Panther before exploring different sounds as a solo artist, while her mother, Faye Wong, was the best-selling Cantopop female in history. Leah Dou made her musical debut as a baby, appearing on her mother's single "童 (Tong)" when Dou was only one year old. She then formed her first band in 2011, while still a teenager, and released her debut single "With You" in 2012. The songs "On the Beach" and "Blue Flamingo" both followed in 2013. Leah Dou enjoyed her commercial breakthrough three years later, when her original song "(It's Not a Crime) It's Just What We Do" was used as the theme song to the Chinese film July and Asheng. Both the song and the movie were hits, with "(It's Not a Crime) It's Just What We Do" receiving nominations for "Best Original Film Song" from the 53rd Golden Horse Awards as well as the 36th Hong Kong Film Awards. Stone Cafe, Leah Dou's debut album, was also released in 2016, featuring new songs as well as previously-released tracks like "Blue Flamingo." Before the year was up, Dou had won two awards at the QQ Music Awards: "QQ New Female Artist of the Year" and "QQ Most Searched Artist of the Year." Her second album, Kids Only, followed in 2017. Dou made her acting debut in the 2019 film The Eleventh Hour, for which she received an award for "Best Supporting Actress" at the 9th Beijing International Film Festival. GSG MIXTAPE, her third album, was released in 2020. Three years later, "Monday" — a duet with Lionman — became her biggest single to date, debuting at Number 10 on the Top 50 Mandarin Singles chart in early 2023.
