Les Vieilles Canailles

The French superstar trio Les Vieilles Canailles was comprised of three of France's best-known rock singers: Jacques Dutronc, Eddy Mitchell and Johnny Hallyday. The project was conceived by the band's respective managers who between them came up with the idea of a latter-day Rat Pack along the lines of the trio formed by Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. and Dean Martin. The dream became a reality at a memorable concert in Bercy, France in 2014 where the three artists delighted the crowds with a series of songs taken from their own recording back catalogues and performed as a vocal trio with a substantial backing band. After a short tour the trio had a two-year break before planning a return to the stage in the summer of 2017. Hallyday's participation was in some doubt due to the singer having being diagnosed with cancer in March 2017. Despite having ongoing treatment for his illness Hallyday managed to complete the tour, with the final gig in Carcassonne being his last live appearance prior to his death in December that year.
