Lootpack

Founded in Oxnard, California in 1992, Lootpack is a hip-hop group composed of high school classmates DJ/producer Madlib (born Otis Jackson, Jr. in 1973), rapper Wildchild (Jack Brown), and DJ/producer DJ Romes (Romeo Jimenez). They made their first appearance on 21 & Over, the 1993 debut album by Tha Alkaholiks. Their first release under the Lootpack name was the Psyche Move EP (1996), released on Crate Digga’s Palace Records. The trio then signed to Stones Throw Records and released two EPs in 1998: The Anthem and Whenimondamic. Lootpack’s debut album, Soundpieces: Da Antidote, was released in 1999 and was well-received by fans and critics alike. Since the release of the album, Lootpack has released various singles and compilations but have not released a proper follow-up album. While Lootpack has never announced an official split, each of the members have worked on other projects together and apart. Of the three members, Madlib has had the most high-profile career, producing numerous artists and issuing a series of successful solo and collaboration albums.
