Malaa

Malaa is a producer and French house DJ who debuted in 2015 with the single "H+M" and a handful of remixes. Maintaining a high level of anonymity, Malaa has never appeared in public without a ski mask covering his entire face, effectively masking his identity. Even so, his many collaborations with DJ Snake and Tchami suggest that Malaa is actually a duo featuring both artists. Rumors have also circulated that French DJs Mercer and Sebastien Benett are also involved in the Malaa project. Regardless, Malaa began attracting attention in 2015 with remixes of songs like Major Lazer and DJ Snake's "Lean On" and The Weeknd's "Can't Feel My Face." After signing with the Confession label, he released the Illicit EP in 2016 and toured America as part of the Pardon My French collective. A second EP, No Redemption, was released in April 2018. Credited to both Malaa and Tchami, the EP was followed several months later by Illegal Mixtape II. Meanwhile, Malaa continued to release remixes on the internet, with highlights including Stardust's "Music Sounds Better with You" (2018) and Rezz and Grabbitz's "Someone Else" (2020). He then returned his focus to his own music, resulting in a long string of non-album singles that often featured appearances by other European DJs. "Hell" (featuring Koos) and "Riot Gear" (featuring Habstrakt) were both released in 2020, while 2021 saw the release of singles like "Ring the Alarm" and "Pondicherry," both of which were credited to Malaa and DJ Snake. One year later, Malaa released "Wait," his first single of 2022. He then teamed up with Tchami once again for 2024's Veni Vidi Vici, the pair's collaborative record since Redemption.
