Martyn Joseph

In his youth, the Welsh singer-songwriter Martyn Joseph looked set to be a professional golfer. He started at the age of ten and by the time he was 15 he was playing off a handicap of one and winning numerous tournaments and titles. When he reached his early twenties his focus had changed and music became the driving force in his life. After recording a string of self-financed albums he was eventually signed by Sony Records and recorded two albums and five singles with the label. Sony terminated their contract with the singer after a relatively short period and after recording a further two albums with a UK independent Joseph established his own label called Pipe Records. Joseph has been described as a misguided protest singer with his well crafted, often hard-hitting songs occasionally causing controversy. With more than 20 studio albums under his belt, Joseph is a well established act with an international fan base. He's an artist who, by his own admission, can't decide whether he's an activist or a musician and continues to campaign on various issues working with organisations such as Amnesty International and Christian Aid.
