Medeski Martin & Wood

Medeski Martin & Wood are an American avant-garde jazz trio formed in New York City in 1991 by keyboard player John Medeski, double bassist Chris Wood and drummer Billy Martin. They performed in local venues and went on to garner national attention. Collaborators include guitarist John Scofield. They have released many albums since their 1992 debut, 'Notes from the Underground', with more than 20 appearing on Billboard's Jazz Albums chart. 'Combustication' (1998) and 'Juice' (2014) went to number one. Top ten hits include 'Shack-Man', which reached number seven in 1996. 'The Dropper' (2000) peaked at number two, 'Tonic' (2000) number three, 'Uninvisible' (2002) number four, 'End of the World Party (Just in Case)' (2004) number five, 'Out Louder' (2006) with John Scofield number five 'Let's Go Everywhere' (2008) number seven, 'Radiolarians I' (2008) number eight, 'Radiolarians II' (2009) number six and 'MSMW Live: In Case the World Changes Its Mind' (2011) and 'Woodstock Sessions 2' (2014) both number eight. Their 2018 release 'Omnisphere', with the chamber orchestra Alarm Will Sound, reached number ten. Compilations include 'Last Chance to Dance Trance' (1992) and 'Note Bleu: Best of the Blue Note Years 1998-2005' (2006).
