Metro Station

The short-lived career path of Metro Station began, rather improbably, on the set of the Disney show Hannah Montana. With half-sister Miley Cyrus star of the show, Trace Cyrus was encouraged to meet another young musician Mason Musso who happened to be the older brother of Mitchel Musso, Oliver Oken in the show. Sharing similar musical interests the duo kicked off a partnership, soon adding keyboardist Blake Healy to their lineup. The group recorded a single Seventeen Forever, and thanks to the ever-pervasive power of MySpace, found themselves with a growing presence. And it was through MySpace that percussionist Anthony Improgo found the group and joined as the drummer. The band played gigs around LA but it was the MySpace notoriety that helped them scoop a record deal with Red Ink in 2006, less than a year after they had formed. Their self-titled debut album Metro Station was released in September 2007, and, although two singles from the album failed to chart, it wasn't until the release of single Shake It that the album sales really started to motor. Shake It gave the band a top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 and helped push the album back into the charts, peaking at Number 43 on the Billboard 200. However, the band's demise was almost as sudden as its rise and in March 2010 the members fell out with each other and decided to disband.
