Michelle Branch

American singer-songwriter Michelle Branch has enjoyed an immensely successful but somewhat fragmented career. After releasing her self-financed album 'Broken Bracelet' the Arizona-born artist was picked up by Maverick Records and in 2001 released her major label debut album 'The Spirit Room'. It produced the punchy pop rock single 'Everywhere' which was an instant hit making the top 20 in the UK, USA and Australia and the accompanying video won her the MTV Viewers Choice Award in 2002. Buoyed by the success of the single, the album 'The Spirit Room' sold over two million copies in the US. Branch's ensuing high profile led to a collaboration with Santana and a 2003 Grammy Award for the song 'Game of Love'. More success followed with the second album, 'Paper Hotel' released in 2003, which despite meeting mixed reviews sold over a million copies. After the intial success Branch's career then seemed to stall and apart from an album released in 2006 with her friend Jessica Harp under the band name The Wreckers it was to be another 14 years before Branch would release another studio album under her own name. Her 2017 album 'Hopeless Romantic' was well received by the music press and her return to the music business was welcomed by her fans.
