Miley Cyrus

The daughter of country star Billy Ray Cyrus, Miley Cyrus was born Destiny Hope Cyrus November 23, 1992, in Franklin, Tennessee, and would go on to become one of her generation’s most recognizable pop stars. She grew up on a farm near Nashville, attended the local People's Church, took acting lessons at the age of nine and appeared in her father's TV series Doc. Her energy and charm impressed the Disney Channel so much they gave her the lead role of Miley Stewart in the sitcom Hannah Montana, which debuted in 2004. The program and Cyrus became so popular that two years into the show’s run the album Hannah Montana was released and topped the album chart, as did 2007’s Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus, which gave Cyrus her first Top 40 hits, “Life’s What You Make It” and “Nobody’s Perfect”. She continued attempts to establish herself outside of the wholesome Hannah Montana image with 2008’s Breakout and 2010’s Can’t Be Tamed before the show finally ended in 2011. She also had several acting roles during these years including the 2008 animated feature Bolt and 2010’s The Last Song. Although she had enjoyed top 10 hits with tracks like “7 Things”, “The Climb”, “Party in the U.S.A.”, and “Can’t Be Tamed”, it was her 2013 album Bangerz that shattered the Hannah Montana image once and for all and established Cyrus as a pop star in her own right. The album went Number 1 in numerous countries around the world and spun off a pair of massive singles including her first chart-topping hit, “Wrecking Ball”, and the Number 2 hit “We Can’t Stop”. 2015’s Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz, abandoned the pop and dance sound of her previous work in favor of sonic experimentation, but failed to click with fans. 2016 saw Cyrus take up a chair on The Voice, filling the seat left by Gwen Stefani. 2017’s Younger Now returned her to the charts with “Malibu”, another Top 10 hit. She collaborated with fellow pop icons Ariana Grande and Lana Del Rey on the Number 13 hit “Don’t Call Me Angel” for the 2019 remake of Charlie’s Angels. She returned to solo work with the 2020 album Plastic Hearts, enjoying a Number 14 hit with the album’s lead single, “Midnight Sky.” Following an extensive world tour in support of Plastic Hearts, Miley Cyrus began teasing her upcoming eighth studio album through ad campaigns in major cities around the world, releasing its chart-topping lead single "Flowers" on January 12, 2023. Endless Summer Vacation hit the shelves in March of that year, receiving positive reviews and hittin Number 3 on the Billboard 200, as well as reaching Number 1 on the UK Albums Chart.
