Montreal

Montreal is a punk rock band from Germany that was founded in Hamburg in 2003. The band consists of bassist and singer Sebastian "Hirsch" Sievers, guitarist and singer Yonas Farag and drummer Maximilian "Max Power" Seibt. After a first demo in 2004, the debut album Alles auf Schwarz was released a year later. The single "Solang die Fahne weht" ("As long as the flag flies" ) is successfully broadcast on German music television on MTV and Viva. Subsequent tours with Sondaschule, EL*KE and the Bloodhound Gang raise Montreal's profile. Further albums followed with Die schönste Sprache der Welt (2007), Montreal (2009) and Malen nach Zahlen (2012). The band then embarked on the anniversary tour 'Barefoot and patent leather shoes - 10 years of Montreal'. With the album Sonic Ballroom, the band achieved their first chart entry in Germany in 2014 at number 62. The follow-up Schackilack climbed to number 42 in the German charts three years later. It features Farin Urlaub (Die Ärzte), Sebastian Madsen (Madsen), Ingo Knollmann (Donots), Costa Cannabis (Sondaschule), Sebastian Hafner (Itchy) and Pensen Paletti (Monsters of Liedermaching), among others. The next album Hier und heute nicht made it into the German top 20 at number 14 in 2019. In 2021, Montreal launched a fan survey on their website to find out their favorite songs. This results in the best-of album Bestandsaufnahme in the same year. The compilation climbs to number 20 in Germany. In April 2024, Montreal released another studio album, Am Achteck nichts Neues. The longplayer climbs into the German top 10 at number 6.
