MoonByul

Moon Byul-yi (December 22, 1992), better known as MoonByul, is a South Korean singer-songwriter and MC who rose to fame as the lead rapper for the girl group Mamamoo. Born in the city of Bucheon, she began studying music at the Paekche Institute of the Arts in 2011 and then joined Mamamoo in 2014, making her official recording debut on the album Melting, released in 2016. MoonByul then became the first member of the group to embark on a solo career in 2018 with the single “Selfish,” which reached number 84 on the Gaon Music Chart and featured Seulgi of Red Velvet. Her debut EP Dark Side of the Moon saw the light in 2020 and peaked at number 2 in Korea, spawning the hit singles “Weird Day” with singer Punch and “Eclipse.” In 2021, MoonByul teamed up with Mamamoo bandmate Solar for the single “Promise U,” hitting number 172 in South Korea and number 95 in Australia. 2022 found her at the top of her game, releasing the extended play 6equence and the single albums C.I.T.T (Cheese in the Trap) and The Present, all of which landed in the Korean Top 10. That year, she also participated in and won the reality competition program The Second World. Starlit of Muse, MoonByul's highly anticipated studio debut, finally arrived in 2024 and hit number 5 on the Circle Albums Chart.
