Muna

Describing themselves as "a punk Wilson Phillips", Los Angeles pop trio MUNA make big, glossy synth anthems about the joys and challenges of being young and gay, and are a part of a new generation of all-female bands kicking 'girl power' into a new era. Formed whilst studying at the University of Southern California in 2013, Katie Gavin, Josette Maskin and Naomi McPherson started out playing college parties and making experimental, noisy electronic pop, before releasing their EP 'More Perfect' in 2014. Gavin's poignant lyrics took on issues such as sexual abuse, identity politics and romantic heartbreak, and, after landing a deal with RCA Records, their debut album 'About U' was full of empowering, righteous celebratory pop that won them a big following in the LGBT community. Dutch techno DJ Tiesto also remixed their track 'Winterbreak' and they found an even bigger audience when they opened for Harry Styles on his North American tour before they returned in 2018 with EP 'One Year On'.
