Mustard

The Grammy Award-winning songwriter, DJ and producer Dijon McFarlane is best known by his stage name DJ Mustard. The Grammy Award was given in recognition for his song 'Boo'd Up' which was released in 2018 by the R&B singer Ella Mai and was a fitting acknowledgement by the record industry for the considerable influence McFarlane's work has had on modern rap, hip-hop and R&B. His style is easily recognised and has been described by McFarlane himself as 'ratchet music' which is a reference to the catchy, up tempo, hip-hop rhythms which characterise his work. His career began in 2010 with the release of a compilation album featuring various artists on Thump Records and significant chart success came the following year when he produced 'Rack City' for Tyga and the song reached number seven on the Billboard Hot 100 and subsequently topped the R&B Chart. Since then he has worked with various hip-hop and rap artists but is particularly well known for his collaborations with YG and Ty Dolla $ign, establishing his reputation as one of the leading hip-hop producers of his time.
