Myron Butler

Dallas-based choir director, vocal arranger, producer, and backup singer Myron Butler worked for Kirk Franklin, Yolanda Adams, Donnie McClurkin, and Ted & Sheri before organizing his own vocal group, Levi. Signing to the EMI Gospel label, Butler & Levi made their first album, 2005's Set Me Free, which peaked in the Top 20 of the Top Gospel Albums chart and won four Stellar Awards. The group's second album, 2007's Stronger, fared even better, reaching number two on the Top Gospel Albums survey. Next came 2010's Revealed...Live in Dallas, which proved another Top Ten hit and featured guest stars Kirk Franklin and Smokie Norful. Released in 2012, Worship was his first solo album away from Levi. However, Butler's sabbatical from Levi was short-lived; he reunited with the group for the album On Purpose, which was released in March 2016 and went on to top the Gospel Albums chart. ~ William Ruhlmann
