Noel Schajris

Noel Schajris is a singer and songwriter based in Mexico who first found success as one half of the duo Sin Bandera and later as a solo artist. Born in Argentina in 1974, Schajris studied music at the Conservatorio Nacional de Música, moving to Mexico in 1997. He got his start as a performer when, as a solo artist, he released 'Cita en las Nubes' through Sony Music México in 1999. The album failed to set the charts alight but it did pave the way for Schajris to join up with fellow Latin singer-songwriter Leonel García to form Sin Bandera. Schajris played piano, García played guitar and both musicians lent their vocals to their R&B sound. Working with producer Aureo Baqueiro the pair recorded their self-titled debut album. The record included the blues-influenced lead single 'Entra en Mi Vida', which proved to be Sin Bandera's first massive hit, helped along by its use as the theme song for Mexican telenovela 'Cuando Seas Mía'. Further hits followed from the album, including 'Kilómetros' and 'Sirena'. The duo's sophomore album, 'De Viaje', proved similarly successful and spawned more hit singles in the forms of 'Mientes Tan Bien', 'Que Lloro' and 'Amor Real'. As their influence spread beyond Mexico to the entire Spanish-speaking world they had two more hit albums with 'Mañana' (2005) and 'Pasado' (2006), but in 2007 the pair decided to go their separate ways. Schajris resumed his solo career, recording his 2009 album 'Uno No Es Uno' at Abbey Road studios in London and followed it up with 'Grandes Canciones', an album of covers, in 2011 and 'Verte Nacer' in 2014.
